Real World SharePoint 2010

For the first time in my life I wrote a chapter for a book. I wrote it with 21 other SharePoint MVPs all over the world and it is called Real World SharePoint 2010. The book is for sale as of today on amazon. I had the honor to write the Silverlight chapter. I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Hi Karine
Thanks for sharing knowledge through your blog.
I was reading chapter 13 Using silverlight 4 in Sharepoint 2010 and follow same step you did in order to create WCF service to rolleup Calendar lists which will be consumed by silverlight app.Now i have one web application with NTLM authentication which is extended to use for Anonymous users meaning Public facing site.Everything works fine if users are authenticated but if users try to visit on extended web application it prompt for credentials(401).
I have checked through fiddler all url looks fine .

  2. Hi Ronak,
Anonymous access is always a bit tricky with Silverlight. Have you read this post: http://whitepages.unlimitedviz.com/2011/03/using-silverlight-and-the-sharepoint-client-object-model-with-anonymous-access/
It explains what to do before you can access SharePoint through Silverlight unauthenticated. One of the things is that you have to disable the feature ViewFormPagesLockDown.

    • Thanks Karine for your quick reply and link to good article which help me in future project.I am not using client side model as there is no class like SPSiteDateQuery so i have to go with Server side object model and WCF.I solved problem running code under SPsecurity.RunWithHighPriviliges dont know its good fix or not.

      Thanks
      Ronak
