BIWUG SharePoint Saturday was fantastic!

Yesterday we organized our first SharePoint Saturday in Belgium and it was fantastic! 50 participants showed up and at the end of the day they all seemed happy and agreed it was worth while repeating this next year. We even had someone from the UK, working in Germany, in the crowd.

Although we choose to invite local speakers, they were all well prepared and gave a great session. To repeat Steven Van De Craen’s words: we do this out of passion. And there was indeed a lot of passion. Stephane Eyskens is even so passionated about his WCF subject that he blogged about it right after the event. So if you want to reread what he explained yesterday, you can read more about it here.

Unfortunately we had one speaker that didn’t show up: Jan Tielens. He was going to present the client object models for SharePoint 2010. This made us drop one of the most interesting sessions of the day. What makes it especially weird is that he is the firestarter of this whole event. He was the one that came up with the idea to organize a SharePoint Saturday for Belgium.

Well, the most important thing is that our participants didn’t complain and were very understanding. Thank you all for coming and especially a big thank you to the main sponsors Spikes and SharePoint Designers who made this event possible!
